Job site inspections also play an intricate part in the divisions safety goals and compliance. The goal of a job site inspection is to identify hazards and initiate corrective action. A job site may be an asphalt plant, interstate project, maintenance shop or any where else that work is being performed. The job site inspections may be broke into two categories. Foreman/crew inspections and EHS inspections are described below:
Similar to the construction equipment inspection, the job site inspection involves foremen or employees familiar to the specific job. These inspections should occur prior to the days work and possibly multiple times during the day. Any hazards identified should be resolved as quickly as possible. Issues that can not be resolved immediately should be reported through the normal chain of command.
Routine inspections by the EHS department will be performed as a safety audit. This inspection will often be a multi-media review encompassing OSHA regulations, environmental regulations, and APAC policies. The goal of a safety audit is to identify and correct any noncompliance issues prior to a regulatory inspection.
